Do They Know It’s Christmas plunges 2-12 (24,208 sales) for Band Aid 30 but should recover next week, as physical sales kick in for the first time. It is still the highest placed seasonal song on the chart – and the tally of Christmas-related tracks in the Top 200 this week swells to a mighty 37. The leading hardy perennials, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You and The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale Of New York both sprint into the Top 20, moving 52-17 (21,119 sales) and 67-18 (20,309 sales), respectively, while Wham!’s Last Christmas joins them in the Top 40, climbing 86-39 (11.768 sales).
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” also received an airplay award for achieving UK radio spins in access of 10,000.
