Still riding the thirst wave, Mimi is back, less than a couple weeks out from the release of her much anticipated fourteenth – yes that’s 1-4 – studio album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. Sending the internet into overdrive this week with her latest single “Thirsty,” Mariah and Atlanta’s newcomer Rich Homie Quan collab on a Hit-Boy production for the ultimate recipe to this summer’s anthem.
Teaming up once again, Mariah speaks exclusively to REVOLT on working with beat-maker Hit-Boy for a couple of MC-tailored tracks on the album, saying “people don’t realize how talented [Hit-Boy] is.” Hitting all the high notes Mariah-can-only-hit, “Thirsty” follows up with more a love bouncy-beat than the emotional ballad the two dualed with on “You’re Mine (Eternal)”.
Admitting that “Thirsty” is her favorite song on the album, she tells REVOLT, “It’s simplistic and people can sing along, yet it still gives you a vocal performance. But if you mute the vocals, it’s could be a rap record. For me that’s always the most important, the song has to be strong enough to stand alone.”
From one hit to the next, Mariah’s butterfly-army is fully hyped and ready for the release of the R&B diva’s return on May 27th. In the meantime, check out the video above, and mark your calendars – because the glitter goddess is officially back.
