Mariah Carey discusses her upcoming album, he relationship with Nick Cannon, American Idol and much more.
Mariah Carey stopped through to chat with Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show. Elvis discussed American Idol with her and how he loved her on the show. Elvis saw her as someone who really cared about the contestants.
Mariah went on to say “I should have been a mentor on the show and that’s it.”
“What happened was, I was led to believe that I was going to be in a three pannel show, the traditional show and yet somehow I won’t get into the legalities.” She was refering to Nicki Minaj joing the show and making it four judges. As we know Mariah and Nicki did not get along last season.
Danielle Monaro agreed and stated that she must have really felt for them because she has been in the same position. Mariah went on to say “In some sense I have not been where they are because I didn’t go on Star Search, I didn’t go on Showtime at the Apollo Amateur Night, those were the avenues that were available at that time.”
“I tried to encourage people to write their songs but when you go something like that a show, if you do get chosen there’s a 365 deal where they basically own your a**.”
